Rightster wanted to provide publishers with a self-service tool to analyse and monitor the performance of their videos distributed off YouTube. The tool had to be simple and delightful to use and the experience had to be seamless across desktop and tablets.
We started by investigating what metrics and dimensions publishers would find useful to monitor their videos. We reviewed reports that were produced by the Business Intelligence team and interviewed publishers to understand how they were using these reports, what were they frustrations, and what they expected from the reporting tool. We then explored different ways of presenting the information from charts to page layout. I created a sitemap to visualise the breadth and depth of the tool and an interactive prototype to better convey the design concepts. We iterated on the design concepts based on feedback from users, the business, and development team.
User experience project lead, service concept design, interaction design, and creation of documentation.
Feedback on the designs from publishers was extremely positive. The tool has reduced most business costs related to reporting. The tool is now live and available to use.
